Venue
All SSDBM 2009 sessions will be held at the Hotel Monteleone, “New Orleans’
timeless address." As the hotel’s
web site explains, “Steeped in history, yet boldly contemporary in style
and amenities, Hotel Monteleone puts you right in the heart of the French
Quarter." The hotel has been the setting for many films and TV show
episodes, and was mentioned in one of Ernest Hemingway’s short stories.
A block of rooms at the Hotel Monteleone has been set aside for SSDBM attendees, with the following special rates:

The hotel’s reservation system has the conference’s group posted under the code SSDBM. To ensure that your receive the conference’s group rate, please identify yourself, during the hotel registration, as attending SSDBM. Reservations may be made by calling (504) 523-3341 or by calling the hotel’s Group Reservations number at 1-800-217-2033. Guests may also reserve by fax at (504) 528-1019. The cut-off date for the room block is May 4th, 2009 May 18th, 2009. Any reservation received after this date will be accepted on a space and rate available basis. Reservations must be guaranteed by one night’s deposit or a major credit card. Individual guest room deposits will be refunded if reservations are canceled seventy-two (72) hours prior to the date of arrival.

Getting
There
New Orleans’ Louis Armstrong International Airport is
served by most major US airlines.
Once you reach the airport, you can proceed to the airport’s “transportation
area" and take the Airport Shuttle to the hotel for $15.00 per person each
way. Alternatively, you can take a
taxi to the hotel for $28.00 for 1-2 people traveling together or $12.00
per person for 3 or more people.
